KAREETTA DESIGNS INC

noun    Ka·ree·tta

Meaning: Longevity

AFFORDABLE, TIMELESS, LUXURY ESSENTIALS that go a long way.

Kareetta is a New York based brand, born out of love for natural fabrics and affordable couture by a Fashion professional.

Swati Kelkar wife and mother of 2 beautiful college going kids, is a simple, fun, elegant, and stylish fashion professional who loves to travel and follow her dreams.

A career spanning close to three decades, she has worked with corporate fashion houses like Club Monaco, American Eagle Outfitters, Talbots, Kenneth Cole Productions, and Kit and Ace in Executive and Leadership roles.

She was responsible for managing large portfolios in design-development, global sourcing, merchandising, and financial profitability.

Along with her experience in the fashion industry and her dream to make affordable couture accessible ethically and in compliance to all, she put together a team of passionate industry experts across various departments. Julie Eckhart her close friend of 20+ years who also carries a strong portfolio in fitting and technical design is part of the Kareetta team. Julie has worked as head of technical design for companies like Club Monaco, Aritzia and Kit and Ace.

Swati decided to quit her executive role and go into start-up mode. To create clothing that inspires and empowers women around the world. Capturing a market space that allows dressing women in sophisticated, elegant attire that is affordable, stylish, long lasting and most of all comfortable. She believes in the slow fashion, not fast fashion.

Hence her line Kareetta, that showcases Timeless, Luxury, Essentials.

Her love for natural fibers, like cotton, flax, hemp, ramie, silk, and cashmere led her to use natural fabrics as the premium core fabric for the brand. She believes when you wear natural fabrics, you feel good because you are wearing fibers that are breathable, lightweight and biodegradable. Additionally, natural fabrics absorb perspiration, making them less likely to cause irritation to the skin. They have natural moisture wicking and antimicrobial properties.

It suddenly all seemed doable for the customer. Knowing fabrics, how factories work and passing on hidden costs to the customer, made it important to create an affordable couture product that fits well, with amazing quality/price and delivered in compliance with the best practices in the industry.
